In the popular view, art is about creation, technology about invention, and science about discovery. Today, science is about analysis, decomposing problems in parts, rational thinking, logic, and quantification. Art is about divergence, emotion, metaphorical thinking, and creativity. Technology has elements of both. And Design bridges all three. But at its most elemental core, what are the elements of science that form the essence of design? I will argue that it is Evolution.
