Julio M. Ottino, Dean of Northwestern’s McCormick School of Engineering, and designer and entrepreneur Bruce Mau share insights from their recent book during their October 20 talk “The Nexus: The Concepts, Its Design, and Implications.”
To devise solutions to the world’s most complex challenges such as pandemics and climate change, there must be new ways of thinking that combine art, technology, and science to expand our creativity and augment our insight. That creativity, however, must be combined with the ability to execute. This type of thinking is what Ottino and Mau refer to as “Nexus thinking.”
